'An individual site for an independent bar'

Sandbar is an independent bar and café bar to the south of Manchester city centre. A favourite with academics, students and locals the bar host’s degree shows and art exhibitions from the Manchester Universities among other functions. The client wanted a site that was as individual and independent as the bar itself and wanted an anti corporate look and feel to provide an extension of their own ideals. They consider their diverse mix of customers one of their biggest assets and wanted the site to represent them in some way.

Frank designed a no-frills, basic site to provide an extension of the bars anti-corporate approach. The bar is a community in it’s own right and Frank wanted to design a site that could be managed by staff at the bar and involved the bar’s regular customers. The site features a rogue’s gallery of Sandbar people with a short biog on each and is based around a detail from artwork hanging behind the main bar, painted by one of the bars regular customers.
