Champagne Football at the Umbro 5's

Thanks to the good folk at Umbro for inviting a Frank Design international select team (1 Irishman, 2 half Irishmen and like all good premiership teams, a strong English spine) to participate in their superb Umbro 5's event on a typically rainy Saturday morning in Ardwick. We were well looked after and the excellent Umbro boots and kit were put to good use. After narrowly missing out on a place in the final we finished a creditable 3rd, whooping XFM's finely-tuned, if a little  hung over, samba footballers. New Project Win: Funding Secured From DECF

Frank Design are delighted to announce that funding from national government has been secured for a new project working with 13-14 year old pupils from mixed faith schools within Stockport. The project, titled First Impressions, will involve pupils working together to deliver various products for an online multimedia project. Working with audio, video, animation and creative writing, pupils will create their own multimedia presentation which will be archived online after a VIP launch at the local Council! Working as a mutually beneficial knowledge exchange, First Impressions will provide Keystage 9 pupils from 4 mixed faith schools within Stockport with training which they will use to create mixed media content. Pupils will work in teams to interview senior citizens, learning about their historical experience of listening to music throughout their life, then will create digital content based on past and present music formats. Senior citizens will receive technology training from pupils so that they will be able to use modern technology, eg mobile phones, internet, exploring the shared love of music that both groups are passionate about. The judges from The Department Of Children, Education and Families were very impressed with the idea and are providing 100% of the project funding, which will ensure the projects sustainability for future  generations of pupils attending Stockport schools. The project will be starting in September 2010 and all at Frank Design are looking forward to working with some very talented pupils who will be driving this project forward.

If Carlsberg made sandwiches...

...they would look something like this. The evil genius at our favourite posh butty shop, Olive, masterminded this heart-attack inducing extrava-sanga. Pastrami, cream cheese, dill pickle, swiss cheese, tomato on Mr Creosote sized pieces of sourdough bread. If you've ever seen a better sandwich served up in the city centre area, be sure to lettuce know.

Have you seen this pooch?

12/11/2008

Have you seen this pooch?

The lovely people at Fido PR have done away with the dog and launched their newly branded, user-centric, interaction-encouraging site. Last spotted sniffing around Paradise Wharf looking more than a bit woof, Fidos four-legged friend is now considered surplus to requirements and like the littlest hobo, has (involuntarily) moved on. Last seen complaining to anyone that would listen about the short-sighted move away from Flash driven, character based sites in favour of slick, accessible, multimedia-rich sites, it's a dogs life for the dog with a bone. Weak canine-based comments aside, go to the ace www.fidopr.co.uk for the latest Mancunian PR news, reviews, comment and controversy.

October Update

We're looking forward to a busy October starting work on new design and development projects for Flotech Solutions Ltd, Malbern Trade Windows Ltd, Promotional Merchandise Online and demolition and asbestos removal experts P McGuiness & Co Ltd, in addition to welcoming new project manager Simon Monaghan to the Frank Design team. Simon combines over a decade of project management experience in the banking and multimedia sectors with a relaxed and assured client facing style. Frank have rescued Simon from a prolonged spell in our capital city whilst re-established his Mancunian credentials, so if you see this forlorn and lonely looking figure propping up any Northern Quarter bars, be sure to buy him a pint of lager top.

We're also very excited about a new project to celebrate MCFC OSC's 60th aniversary in 2009, which should provide City supporters of a certain age with reminders of happy memories from the Maine Road era, freshly updated for 2009. More details will be published soon.

At the end of May Frank Design packed up shop and said goodbye to Houldsworth Mill to move to a fantastic office / studio space just outside Manchester City Centre (see map). It's great to be working in one of the best city's in the UK, and to be within walking distance of an equally fine bacon sandwich emporium, courtesy of Jamaican John's executive cafe. Feel free to say hello and drop in for a quick game of pool if you're passing, just be polite and give us a call first.
